Nate advises and represents individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations and institutional clients in the areas of corporate, commercial and real estate law, with an emphasis on: the formation and governance of corporations, partnerships, and joint ventures; corporate finance and securities regulation for non-reporting issuers; corporate reorganizations and amalgamations; the settlement and administration of family trusts and alter ego trusts; the buying and selling of businesses; commercial real estate transactions; and commercial loan transactions.
Work History and Education
Nate is a U.S.-trained lawyer who was first called to the bar in 2000. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from Queen’s University (1994) and a law degree from the University of Hawaii (2000).
Prior to being called to the British Columbia bar in 2009, Nate practiced real estate, business, and construction law at leading law firms in Hawaii and Connecticut and held underwriting and legal positions in the insurance industry in New Jersey.
Born in California, Nate was raised both in Honolulu, Hawaii, and here in Victoria, graduating from St. Michaels University School in 1990. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a surety bond underwriter in New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Nate currently serves as the Registrar of the Anglican Diocese of British Columbia and as a Director of The Royal & McPherson Theatres Society.
