Areas of Practice
Alex maintains a broad practice including shareholder and contractual disputes, commercial disputes, franchise litigation, quasi-criminal proceedings, professional negligence, insurance defence, human rights, employment and labour, and foreclosures for private lenders.
He has a focus on estate litigation where he acts for executors, representatives, administrators, trustees, and beneficiaries. These involve various types of matters, including the interpretation of wills, claims for the support of dependents, estate accounting, and review of trustees’ actions.
Alex’s work has allowed him to frequently appear in a variety of courts and tribunals, including the B.C. Supreme Court and Provincial Court, the Federal Court of Canada, the Court of King’s Bench in both Alberta and New Brunswick, and all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal.
He has experience working with a diverse client base including individuals, corporations, insurers, land and property developers, and public institutions such as universities and colleges.
Work History and Education
Alex obtained both his Bachelor of Arts (2008) and Juris Doctor (2011) from the University of Western Ontario in London.
He was called to the bar by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2012 and subsequently by the Law Society of British Columbia in 2020.
