Areas of Practice
Les is a leading business lawyer who has practiced extensively in the areas of corporate/commercial law; private lending; real estate development and financing; and cross-border transactions, including applications to the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission relating to corporate acquisitions. In addition, Les regularly advises high-wealth individuals on estate planning and tax planning matters.
Work History and Education
Les received his Bachelor of Arts in 1973, along with his Bachelor of Education in 1974, from Memorial University of Newfoundland . He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria in 1980, and his Master of Laws from Cambridge University in 1987. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1981.
Les has served for many years as a guest instructor in Personal Property Security, Foreclosures and Corporate Law for the Law Society's Professional Legal Training Course.
