Work History and Education

Neil joined Cox Taylor in January 2019.  He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1993 and has been practicing throughout BC and Alberta from Victoria since 1994.  Neil is an industry leading lawyer focussing on Insurance Law and commercial and general litigation.

Neil’s insurance practice includes defence of claims for professional negligence, building envelope failure and other construction liabilities, property and casualty and claims against institutional clients.  He also litigates coverage and subrogated claims.   His commercial and general litigation work covers a wide range of subject matters.  Neil works hard to build productive and open relationships with his clients and they in turn have come to value the care and attention he gives every file the moment it lands on his desk.

Neil’s Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation provides him with an understanding and appreciation for the pressures, issues and motivating factors impacting his clients.  In addition to his litigation work, Neil provides proactive risk management advice to businesses and insurers that helps them avoid future legal troubles.
