Areas of Practice
Before being appointed to the Bench in 2004, Bob practised general civil litigation and criminal law. Now, with experience gained as a Judge, Bob is available as an Arbitrator in all areas of law and is ready to act as consultant to lawyers and clients in relation to litigation issues. Bob is also a Law Society of BC accredited family law mediator.
Work History and Education
After growing up in Port Arthur, Ontario, Bob received his Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University in 1968 and his Law Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1971. After articling at Cox Taylor, he was called to the Bar in 1972 and continued with Cox Taylor, becoming a partner in 1976. Bob is a past Director and Chair of the Legal Services Society of B.C. and a Bencher of the Law Society of B.C. from 1986 to 1994 when he became Treasurer. He received his QC (KC) in 1986 and was appointed to the Supreme Court of B.C. in 2004. Bob retired from the Court at the end of 2021 and, after a month of rest, returned to his roots at Cox Taylor in 2022.
